Barley growing at Mosher Farms.

This year Mosher Farms is shipping us an excellent crop of “Lightning” winter barley. We’ve worked closely with third-generation farmer Terry Mosher to determine the variety that works best for his farm and for our brewery and distillery customers’ needs. “Andrea & Christian are progressive and very knowledgeable as well as great people to work with,” says Terry.

“We are a family farm that prides itself on its quality products and supports the local community,” he says. “We are not the biggest but try to be the best!” Mosher grows a diversified set of crops including Strawberries, Raspberries, Blueberries, Peas, Beans, Sweet Corn, Tomatoes, Peppers, Summer Squash, Winter Squash, Pumpkins, Winter Wheat, Winter Barley, Corn, and Soybeans. Much of the wheat goes to Terry’s son’s distillery in Portland, ME, Hardshore Distilling Company.

But the Moshers are happy to have expanded their winter crops to include barley. Terry, like us, is a big beer fan. His favorite? “IPA, all the way!!”

Will you brew Terry’s new favorite IPA? Contact us if you’re interested in purchasing some of his barley for your brews. And learn more about his harvest, and all the farms we work with, in our 2023 Crop Report.
